Believe it or not, one of my goals for this year was to travel less so I could be in NYC more (no no, its not that I don't want to travel at all... I'm just trying to limit myself so I can be engaged in the wonderful and creative city I live in). Its only 2 months into the new year and I have already been to Hong Kong and the Philippines! However this was definietly in my "worth it" category! Here are a few photos from a walk around HK.
MORE CAMPING!!!!
Now that winter is here, I'm finally catching up on a ton of computer work, blogging, updating...blah blah blah. This past fall has been nonstop, both work and travel wise. After returning from Alaska, I decided last minute to take a 2 week camping trip with my best bud Ryan (who lives in Chicago and who I dont get to see nearly enough). We flew out to Denver, rented a Fait 500 (if you know of it, you are probably laughing at the thought of two grow men driving it) then drove around the wild west for a few weeks. We headed up to Glacier National Park and then made our way south through Yellow Stone and Grand Tentons. Amazing. Here are a few photos.
Glacier National Park. Amazing.
Driving through Glacier. Very hazy due to forest fires.
A days hike and 3,000 ft climb into back country.
Back country in bear country.
Yellow Stone.
Summer of forest fires. Paradise Valley, Montana.
Grand Tetons! I Love MOUNTAINS!
Grand Tetons back country.
Grand Tetons with a nasty afternoon storm rolling in.
Messing around at 10,000 ft.
More messing around back country Grand Tetons.
Early morning starts + campfire coffee = best start to a summers day. (Grand Tetons)
ALASKA!
I spent 20 days up in Alaska this past July/August. The first part of the trip was for a project. I was shooting a doc on traditional fishing for the wonderful site Global Oneness Project We spent 10 days on the Yukon river, shooting in the town of Emmonak. Emmonak is a small village near the mouth of the Bering Sea and is only accessible by air (and river 3 months out of the year). Even after working in some pretty remote parts of the world, Emmonak felt as remote as you could great, it had a real outpost feel. The shoot was extremely fascinating (picture buzzing around the Yukon river on speed boats!), and the finish project should be really really beautiful.
I fly a lot. In fact I had enough frequent flier miles to fly my parents up to Alaska, something they always wanted to do. So after the shoot I travel around the rest of Alaska with my folks (Seward, to Valdez to Denali). I put down my camera for most of this time and just took in all the beauty Alaska has to offer. Alaska is pretty amazing!
Flying out of Anchorage. Fisherman in Emmonak.
We barely could fit all the gear on this plane.

Emmonak at about midnight. The 22 hours of daylight was amazing.

The freshest and best salmon I will probably ever consume.
After the shoot my parents join me for some more Alaskan adventures. On the bus in Denali National Wilderness.
Camping on the Kenai Peninsula.
Hiking and more hiking (second photo is tundra land in Denali).
Dear Mom, This is what I do for a living. Love, Andrew.
And here is something totally different (and kind of bizarre). A little behind the scenes video from Bolivia.
