china play money

I’m happy to announce that I signed on as Director of Photography on the feature documentary Play Money. Play Money is being produced and directed by Anthony Gilmore of Nameless Films. Anthony directed the 2007 award winning documentary Behind Forgotten Eyes.

“Deep within a digital underworld - a parallel universe composed of ones and zeros where warlocks, wizards, and warriors roam - a secret lies: multi-million dollar economies. Economies where real money meets “play money.” Play Money explores the complex world of virtual property, the business of real money trade, and the question that blurs the line between the virtual and the real.” Read More Here.

The first major shoot for Play Money involves a two week trip to China this August. My goal for Play Money (especially the shoot in China) is to capture the virtual and real worlds in the most cinematic way possible. Keep an eye on my Blog for updates.

San Deigo Sunset

Last week I headed out to San Diego to shoot a project for Scott Whitham. The project involved a series of talking head interviews but also some awesome B-Roll of the coast and some of the natural beauty San Diego offers. I was only out in San Diego for 3 days but i managed to sneak in a dip in the Pacific (the first time i have swam in the Pacific).

After that I flew straight to New Orleans to produce and shoot a project for ReThink. This is the third year that Colin M Lenton and I have traveled to New Orleans to work for ReThink.. We have some great friends in New Orleans and the trip is always a blast.

Right before the trip I picked up a Canon 5d mkII (the 20 megapixel DSLR that also shoots 1080p video). I shot a bunch with it whenever I had down time. I’ll have a short test video up shortly.

I recently finished shooting and editing a project about Bike Share Philadelphia. The project was funded through Philadelphia Stories 7 and will be airing on MIND TV this Fall. I’m hoping to put a few short “webepisodes” up soon. Some of the final B-Roll was shot with Tilt/Shift lenses and has a very cool look.

Speaking of bikes, I currently have three bike related videos featured as part of the Bicycle: people + ideas in motion art exhibition that is currently at the Levy Gallery for the Arts. Although my work has been screened in over 100 film festivals, this is the first time my work has been part of an art gallery exhibition.
