FINAL ELECTIONS PICTURES
Sunday, November 30th, 2008Somehow I thought I was going to have free time after the elections were over, but that never happened. I guess I should just be grateful for the fact I have a good amount of work coming in. In either case these photos are well over due. Here are a few panoramas from the last few days before the election. I covered a few McCain events in PA and in DC. Then I flew out to Chicago for election night.
The media situation in Grant Park was pretty ridiculous. All the non-major press had to fight over a tiny space to set up tripods, resulting in everyone using step-ladders trying to get a somewhat decent shot. On top of that the media area was set up on a baseball diamond. I had to spend an hour and a half cleaning my gear when I got home the next day. I was really hoping to shoot off a few more panoramas on election night but since it was tough enough to just get a decent shot, I had no extra time on my hands…
One last note, the vibe election night was interesting. At least speaking for myself, I was glad to see the elections come to an end, but at the same time it was a physical ending to a year+ in my life. I think a lot of journalist were thinking “Well what do I do now…” Now to move on to bigger and better projects. Although finding something more exciting than covering one of the most monumental presidential elections of all times is going to be tough….
