Innsbruck, the most amazing place EVER

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

At some point in time (shortly after i fell in love with traveling by train in italy) i decided that i really wanted to take a train through the Alps. Since I was going to be in the north of italy to began with, i figured this trip would ideal. The train ride from Verona to Innsbruck is only about 3 1/2 hours, but its such a great train ride, not to mention the fact that Innsbruck is the most beautiful town i have ever seen. It sits in a valley surrounded by the mountains. The best part is that any street you look down, you see the Alps. The highlight of my stay in Innsbruck was taking a cable car to the top of one of the near by mountains and stumping around. I wasn’t sure if i was going to stay the night in Innsbruck, but i am so glad i did. It was the best stop of my whole trip.

You gotta click on the picture above! Do it!
Notice the tiny shinny section to the right? Thats the city of Innsbruck.

This is the type of views i had on my train ride from Verona to Innsbruck.

Christmas is very serious in Austria

That cable car is actually the size of a short bus.

Looking up? Looking down? i cant tell and i dont remeber!

Danger to Life!!!

The mtn peak you are looking at is about 6,000 ft tall, the one i’m standing on to take that picture is close to 7,000 ft

my version of hiking boats = better then nothing but still a bad idea.

Well, after a few days in Innsbruck i headed up to Munich, Germany for my flight home. Honestly, Munich seemed really cool but after a wonderful few days in the Alps, nothing was visually appealing to me, so below is one of the few pictures i took in Munich. Too Munich’s defense, it was rainy and overcast the whole time i was there, so that didnt help. I’m sure it is a delightful place in the summer.

Verona, Italy

Verona is probably best known for the love story Romeo and Juliet. (the door photo below is from the house). I had a great time in Verona. After saying in Treviso for two weeks, i decided that i would achieve one of my long dreams of taking a train through the Alps. From treviso you had to switch trains in Verona, so i decided to stay for the day. A photographer i met in Terviso had a show opening in Verona that saturday, so i got a chance to check it out. The only bad thing about Verona was the lack of hostels. I couldnt find one that was within a resonable distance from the train. So instead i had to fork up the money for a hotel close to the train station. However, it allowed me to get an early start on my train ride throug the Alps… thats for the next post.
